A colorful monster birthday

Continuing with my challenges sprint from my Monday Musings post, my card today was inspired by Taheerah’s recent Cure for the Monday Blues challenge.

It was also inspired by another card I made earlier for Julie Ebersole. So following another of my tips from the Monday Musings post, I used both, the challenge and my earlier card, for inspiration.

Let me show you the challenge card first…

And here is the inspiration image…

Love the bright colors of this image! I tried to capture those in my card. Even the card photography was inspired by the picture!!

And here is my earlier card I made last week for Julie. Hadn’t blogged about it yet.

I used similar products for both of these. Both use Taylored Expressions Party Monsters stamps (found in my stash when I used my shopping tip from Monday Musings again! I’m really working those tips, aren’t I?). Also used distress inks, watercoloring for the monsters and gesso for the card center. I stamped with a variety of sentiment stamps from Papertrey Ink Stylish Sentiments: Birthday in the center before applying the gesso over them to give a cool effect! The black border is hand drawn. The black sentiment comes from the same PTI set.

I’m also submitting the first card to the current Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge because I have a creature on my card 🙂

Thats all for today. Thanks so much for stopping by!!

Cool background, Chaitali; charming canvases for those oh-so-sweet monsters! Your squiggly-lined, colourful borders add such impact! These are darling…clever…creative! Looks like your mojo has returned full force, with an extra boost of pizzazz!
