Verve Pinecone Christmas Spotlight Hop

Hello everyone!

Welcome to Day 2 of the Verve November Spotlight hops!

First a quick orientation check. You should have come here from Laurie‘s blog. You can also begin at Julee‘s blog if you want to start the hop at the beginning!

Today is another set I illustrated – Pinecone Christmas!

I LOVE the smell of pinecones and the crisp wintry look and feel you get from the woods. We go to Mt. Rainier every year around Dec/Jan just to see the snow and pinecones! And ofcourse it isn’t Christmas without Poinsettia! So in this set I illustrated some of my (and yours!) favorite Christmas decorations.

My card today isn’t photographed well so bear with me. I promise its not as blurry as it looks! Things got a bit hectic yesterday and I photographed this late at night before crashing into bed. That’ll teach me to keep photo-taking to the last minute!

Here is the card…

PineconeChristmas

I used the pinecones image (which is a multi-stamp image) and added the cones themselves after cutting with the co-ordinating die. The die-cutting came out PERFECT thanks to this great tip from Catherine!

I sprinkled some embossing powder lightly on the black cardstock to try and create a snow effect. If you plan to do this, don’t use an embossing buddy on the cardstock. The powder will naturally stick to the cardstock in small spots. Quickly heat it and melt it to create light snow.

The sentiment is actually crispier on the card. Its blurry in photo. Finished it off with a few sequins from the Verve Holiday sequin mix. Know what I love about this mix? It comes with sequins in so many sizes!

Hope you liked the card! Do you have a favorite holiday decoration? Tell me about it in comments!

Very pretty. I love the white embossing against the black. What a pretty new set and dies.
I love to decorate with snowman figures of all sorts, plus garland, nativity sets……….guess I don’t really have a favourite;)

Thanks for sharing your pretty card! I love that the pinecones are multi-stamping images. Thanks for the tip on creating the snow effect. My favorite Christmas decoration is a homemade ornament that my son made in school when he was about 6. He is now 33. I still put those homemade ornaments on my tree.

I just love little pine cones and I like how you embossed in white on black paper. Really shows well even though some of the card is a bit blurry.

    Thanks for sharing.
