Today one of my absolute favorite sets is releasing – Light My World!

Have you noticed how different cultures and religions around the world celebrate their festivals with some form of light? There are candles for Christmas, the menorah for Hanukkah, the diya for Diwali, the lantern for Lunar New Year; I’m sure there are many more I’m missing! But its beautiful to see how all forms of lights are always used in all celebrations. This set captures all those forms from around the world along with some versatile sentiments to help you make cards for many occasions and for all your international friends and family!
The set has a candle trio for Christmas ofcourse and I reached for that first but I decided to show you all something different in today’s card. My card today is a Lunar New Year card made with the traditional red and gold colors.
Here is the card…
Yup you guessed right! Its a shaker card! I started with a white background panel that I stamped the lantern on and embossed with gold powder. Colored inside it with copics. Then stamped in lighter desert sand ink on the 2 sides. Stamped the sentiment in red and added in a mix of red and gold sequins before sealing off the card. Sequins are from Pretty Pink Posh.

I am meeting my neighbors from the bus stop and many of them celebrate Duwali – frankly I know very little about their culture but am trying to learn. So glad these images are in the set! I’ll have to make some for them soon!

Great shaker card. I actually like that almost the entire front is the shaker, as opposed to a small space, as is the case so often. Really packs a punch!
