Verve July Release Hop Day 1

Hey everyone!

I think its time to start squealing! Because the Verve July Release spotlighting has started! And I have 2 sets in this release! Yup!! The ones I illustrated! 🙂 Can you tell I’m excited? 😉

So lets get oriented for the hop first. You should have come here from Maureen’s blog. If you want to begin at the beginning, the hop starts at Julee’s blog.

Today we are playing with the Moments Remembered set. Let me tell you a little bit more about this set…

The peacock is India’s national bird. It shows up in many ethnic designs from pillow covers to silverwork on vases to engravings in marble. You have probably seen it as a motif too. But have you ever seen a real peacock fluff its feathers? Here is a look…

Isn’t that just gorgeous? I’ve seen this in real life and its STUNNING!!

So that was my inspiration for this set. That and Mehendi. Or Henna as some of you may call it. I love the dark intricate patterns of Mehendi! It is common to adorn the bride’s hands and legs with mehendi in Hindu weddings. Here is a shot of my wedding mehendi…

Now that you saw my inspiration behind illustrating this set, you only need to wait 2 more days to see the actual set! 🙂 Hope you like it!!

So back to the hop and today’s card…

MomentsRemembered

I used one of the peacock feathers on the set to create a pattern and the quote is also from the set. I used a white gel pen to create white shadows around the letters in the quote. And the feathers have some quilling in their centers with a bit of gold.

Absolutely stunning designs Chaitali. The peacock and the feathers are so beautiful and I love the sentiments too. Not only are they fantastic quotes but I love the mix of fonts. You are definitely to be congratulated on your amazing designs. Your card is gorgeous too.

Absolutely a beautiful card. Being a papercrafter myself, I am always looking for stamps that have an Indian Theme. I haven’t been too successful finding too many, but hopefully I get a chance to win this product!!!

Hehe yes the wedding mehendi did take a long time. I’m not a sit-still-for-hours kind of girl so I was squirming all the time and got scolded quite a few times by friends and my mom while the mehendi was being drawn 😛

CONGRATS on the debut of your first set! I loved hearing the background and inspiration behind the creation of this terrific set. Our local zoo used to have peacocks wondering the grounds freely, sadly they are all gone now. They are beautiful animals and watching them strut their stuff is an amazing sight to see.
    Thanks for sharing.
    Crafty hugs,

Thats so true! And once you’ve seen peacock blue, you don’t like any of your inks that are supposed to be peacock blue 😀 Its a hard color to create. Nature does it best!

Girl, your mehendi looks so pretty!! I can’t imagine how pretty your hands would’ve been ;). For my wedding, I had to go the traditional south Indian way, and make block prints rather than intricate designs. My dad just wouldn’t budge. Ah, well. It still did look pretty 🙂

The peacock is just so beautiful. The sentiments as well. Best wishes for more success, Chaitali.

Thanks Vithya!! I had my husband’s name hidden in the mehendi on my hands for the wedding. So he could search for it later on 🙂 Thats a romantic tradition!

Block print mehendi is really nice too! I prefer that usually because there is lesser chance that an accident-prone klutz like me will mess it up 😛 I usually put that on every year for Diwali.

From the moment you mentioned you’d be designing for Verve, I’ve been waiting in excited anticipation, and now that we’re seeing what you’ve created: WOW, WOW and WOW! Beautiful, unique, innovative, inspired and inspiring! Peacocks, feathers inspired by peacocks, and fabulous quotations: you know ‘exactly what we need! Gorgeous card here, and you must be immensely thrilled to see how beautifully the team has showcased “your” stamps. I most certainly am! Super congrats to you; your talents are incredible!

Your designs are so beautiful!! I love the feathers. And your mehendi is amazing. We tried to do this to my sister before her wedding but did it the night before and it smudged a bit in her sleep.
