Hey everyone!
So all the Stamping Royalty winners have been crowned at Papercrafts Connection now. Its time to share my submissions for the contest! It was my first year trying for this. I had dreams of the crown ofcourse like everyone who participated but honestly, the competition was tough with SO many beautiful creations! This did push me towards paying attention to my technique and putting my best foot forward in every way!
Let the parade begin…
Card 1 uses Papertrey Ink Mega Mehndi MedallionΒ set to create a background with different Memento inks on PTI white cardstock. I diecut Happy in the panel with WPlus9 Happy Trio dies. I also diecut Happy from some PTI Smokey Shadow cardstock and carefully adhered it in place. Notice how I successfully put back all the cut out parts of the stamped panel to complete the inlaid diecut look? SO proud of myself for doing that so cleanly! *Claps wildly!*
Card 2 has a background stamped with Paper Smooches Borderlicious. The Hello is diecut with My Favorite Things Happy Hellos dienamics. On this one I took extra care to stamp the background in a nice ombre look and to adhere the hello with tiny bits of double sided tape so none of the tape shows on the front! The Friend banner is from Simon Says Stamp Card Exchanging Friends stamp set.
Card 3 has a side panel I stamped with stamps from Papertrey Ink Natural Beauties stamp set to create the flowers border. Hmm maybe this set wasn’t a good idea given it was a limited edition set for SAF 2012. Golden rule of publishing – use the latest and available products! But I love how the card turned out! The centers of the larger flowers have some Tsukineko Delicata Gold ink and red sequins.
Card 4 has a bit of warercoloring using Papertrey Ink Square Prints and distress markers. I also busted out some of my old old inchies and used them to give this card some dimension. Finished off with rhinestones. Just earlier this week I was Pinteresting and saw this card by Maile Belles with the same color scheme and Square Prints set. WOW! Its from a while ago so I may have seen it and it stuck with me though I did’t remember the card. Totally didn’t intend to CASE it but glad I unknowingly did!
Hope you enjoyed my parade of Stamping Royalty Attempts (yup I don’t like to call them rejects because they are still pretty and I hope someone somewhere is enjoying them!) I’d love it of you left me a comment with praise/criticism/advice/hugs/anything so I’m encouraged to participate again next year π And if you shared your attempts, leave me a link and I’ll drop by to encourage you too!

Rejects they are NOT. It speaks a lot that you even entered. Keep at it. I have that squared print sent and haven’t used it on a card yet. I’m definitely CASEing yours. And Maile’s.

Thanks Bobby π It was a big thing to even enter I agree. I hadn’t submitted to magazines yet for the same reason – I thought rejection would be hard. But I feel so much better now that I did it once and realised its the fun that matters not the decision! So hopefully this keeps me motivated to submit for contests and publishing!

These are just fabulous…whether you won this year or not! My favorite is the Birthday Hugs and Wishes card with my favorite color combo of black, white and deep red. The pops of additional color give it pizazz! Keep it up and I’m sure we’ll be seeing you wearing the crown yet!

I’ll echo the praise of those who commented before me: your cards are fabulous (I especially love the fourth one) and you have, indeed, won the Crown, from my perspective! Huge applause to you for stepping into this challenge, and I think you should continue entering into ‘big stakes’ opportunities. You have immense and incredibly talent, and a ‘personality, plus’ blog style that endears people to you. You’ve a source of inspiration and creator of joy; two things that are a winning combination in every respect!

Chaitali: I will quote Joda: “Do or do not, there is no try”. Well, you did it, congratulations! Your cards are marvelous, especially #3. I will look forward to seeing you as one of the Stamping Queens very soon. BTW, thanks for the tip about using current/available products; will keep it in mind for my next submission. Cheers!
