Iron Craft Season 2 Episode 3

Hey everyone! Welcome to Episode 3 of Iron Craft Season 2! Wow we are on episode 3 already! Time is going fast!

TheInterview

I have a fun guest today! So much fun that we giggled quite a bit in the interview πŸ™‚ And I have a permanent side-effect of interviewing her now – I’m always going to read her blog in her awesome NZ accent! Yeppers… today I have Sarah Gough! Lets go visit her, shall we?

TheIngredients

For our ingredients Sarah and I used Reverse Confetti stamps! The specific set we used was Be a Barista!

TheCreations

Here is what we came up with!

SarahGoughAndMe

Sarah’s card is all layered and amazing in her style! And she used the vellum her husband got for her! For mine I HAD to find a doiley for my card because you can’t make a Sarah-style card without one – or so was my firm belief!

TheGiveaway

Thanks to Jen, owner of Reverse Confetti, for sponsoring today’s giveaway!

One lucky winner will get a $15 gift certificate for Reverse Confetti! All you need to do to win it is answer this question that Sarah asked in the video!

Thanks for joining in today! Oh, and you MUST hop over to Sarah’s blog as well! She has 2 GIVEAWAYS on hers too! Just leave her some comment love for a chance to win!

The color I avoid is red. It is not a color I am drawn to. I prefer more complex tones and shades and softer, more subtle color palettes. In fact, I rarely use any primaries in their purest state.

I’m going to challenge everyone who commented here to try and reuse their scary color πŸ™‚ So its red for you Dottie! Here is a suggestion – how about using it in small quantities for a color pop? Please do share what you make with it if you decide to take up my challenge!

Pink…I know it is a favorite color of a lot of ladies out there but I have never been a pink girl so have trouble using it in layouts/cards. I do wear pink occasionally, usually only fuschia or hot pinks though.

Chaitali, I’m so excited and happy to have found your blog in time for this season of Iron Crafter! I am so enjoying this series and thank you for introducing me to Sarah today!
The color I struggle with is green. I had to really think about it and realize that I avoid it and can’t say that I’ve truly created a card with green as the main color.

The color I struggle with is orange. I just seem to avoid it, and I really can’t figure out what colors it matches ..

Orange is such a pretty color! You should try the Spiced Marmalade distress ink… its my favorite shade of orange! Maybe that will help you like the color more!

Thank you for the interview. Designers are wonderful people.
The color I struggle with is purple. I don’t think I’ve ever used it on a card and I’ve made a lot of cards. Maybe I should give it a try.

I have to say I have a hard time with purple…not because I don’t love it, but I find it a hard color to match in terms of ink color as well as finding patterned papers in purple.

    1. Chaitali

Hey Miriam! Hmm I thought there were a ton of purple inks no? Memento has some. And there is Dusty Concord in distress inks. This is a good time to discuss everything purple here! Seems to be a scary color for lots of people!

I, too, struggle with purple!! I’ve even thrown away a card I’ve made when I forced myself to use it for a friend whose favorite color is purple!
I also struggle with Pine Green and never use it on my holiday cards!

Purple. Why should purple be so hard for me? It’s too light, too dark, too red, too pink, too garish, too somber. What is my problem? Maybe I have a genetic color defect.

Hi Chaitali ~ Thanks so much for another fun interview! I really enjoyed getting to know Sarah a little better! She is such a sweet person, and her little guy ‘Jax’ is adorable!

I really struggle with the color green! Other than mint green, I can’t seem to find a shade that I like for grass and leaves!

Keep experimenting Barb! There are tons of green shades out there. You only need to get on the Copic train for greens!

Sarah was new to me, so thanks for the intro, Chaitali & another fun episode. I struggle with yellow- seems odd since it’s the color of sunshine. And die cutting a sun is about the only time I use it. Thanks for a chance to win- Reverse Confetti has some great stamp sets.

Fabulous cards and a great video!
About a color I struggle with… hmmm. Never met a color I didn’t like! I can’t think of any color I have trouble with, except for maybe white on white cards. I see lots of fabulous samples online, but I think mine look too plain and I always end up adding in a color!

I am glad I caught on to the Iron Craft video thru Sarah’s blog. How fun to listen to you two chat it up about cardmaking. Love both the cards. As soon as Sarah asked that question “purple” popped into my head. Not my go to color. I am more of an earth tone girl. Thanks for the fun video and the chance to win.

Oooh, your card is so pretty with that doily. I have a weakness for doilies as well so I know how it is! One color that I actually really like but cannot for the life of me create with is purple. Whenever I use it on a card or layout, it just kind of overwhelms me.

Another fantastic interview and wonderful to see a fellow New Zealander be in the spotlight!! I struggle with a lot of colours but my worst would have to be brown. I recently created a card for a colour challenge and had to use brown. Spent 20 mins trying to work out where to put it and only used a teeny, tiny strip. Good to get out of my ‘colour comfort-zone’ though!! Look forward to next interview.

I’m sooooo glad to see Sarah on here this week! She is amazing. The colors that I don’t like to use is PINK! I LOVE pink and I have yet to find a good pink that I just love to use with Copics. Typically I used the R80’s but they have a mauve tone to them and I just wish they were a nice bright pink!!!!!!!

Purple is probably the color I use least, not because I find it difficult, I just seem to buy more of other colors, so it’s hard to come up with several purples that match when I want to make something in purple. Hmmm…. now I’m going to go shopping for some matching purple paper!

I seem to stay with red, green, and blue. I made sure that I used purple for my Easter cards. Pink and yellow seem to be colors that I stay away from. I don’t wear either color so I guess it’s just a personal fetish. I am going to try to use more of those colors as my background for my cards in the future. Love the Iron “chef” concept. Hadn’t heard of it before but it’s a fun idea. Thanks for sharing.

I’m just not a big fan of it, so I don’t turn to it very often when I’m crafting. Thanks for the chance to win such an awesome prize!!!

Once again, a most wonderful video – I especially enjoy the ‘quick fire’ questions and the poses! You are such a ‘make people feel at ease’ hostess! Of course, the cards are an awesome highlight – love the creativity spotlighted! And your cards, along with the guests’, are incredibly! Dazzling delights, all around! I’ve only been card-making just over 18 months, so plenty of colours are my issue because my ink collection is so limited! Gahhh… greens. I struggle with green, and we’ll add purple as well. Perhaps I need to add more inks to my meagre little collection…Fab site, Chaitali – always a joy to visit!

Hi Chaitali: Thanks to you and Sarah for another great episode, both of your cards rock!
I truly appreciate the candid responses to issues of creative blocks and time challenges, it is a relief to know that they happen to design divas like you and Sarah.
As per my color nemesis, let’s start by saying that I am a bit color challenged, my hubbie, in fact, helps me frequently with card color schemes (yes, he is the best!) Yellow is probably the color I stay away from more often.
Since I am a paper addict, I often find myself struggling to use/match a paper bought on an impulse. Have been applying the gallon/quart/pint advice from experts. It is a work in progress.
    Cheers, happy April!
