Iron Craft Season 2 Episode 1

Hey everyone!

So so so exciting to come back with Iron Craft Season 2 this year!! Are you excited? Because I AM!!!

If you have been a follower of Season 1, you know how it works already. If not, the short summary is that this is a weekly feature on my blog where I invite celebrity crafters over and we craft together with the same “ingredients”. You can read more about the feature and see Season 1 episodes here.

I’m back this year with Season 2 and there are some HUGE changes this time! The biggest change is that I’m going to start doing video interviews with my guests! Yup! Talk-show style interviews. Wouldn’t it be fun to know your crafty friends a bit better? Thats what we will do via video chats traversing the globe!

Now what are we waiting for?! Lets get on with the first episode shall we? I have a BiG BIG season opener for you!

TheInterview

My guest today is the fantabulous Julie Ebersole!!! Yes I have had her on Iron Craft last season. No it wasn’t enough! So today I have her back for a video interview and some crafting together! Enjoy the video!

TheIngredients

As you saw in the video, Julie and I used the same ingredients. This stencil by Ronda Palazarri and Wendy Vecchi White embossing paste.

And we forgot to mention in the video but we had a third ingredient. Rather a non-ingredient πŸ™‚ NO STAMPS!

Yeah it was one of those days when I was feeling brave! I don’t know what got into me (should try and remember what I had for breakfast that day) but I challenged Julie to make a card with these ingredients and NO stamps! :O

TheCreations

Here is what we came up with! My card on the left and Julie’s on the right.

JulieEbersoleAndMe

What was I thinking challenging Julie?! Her card is as AMAZING as ever!! And she has some excellent tips in the video about how she made it! For my card, I tried to cram in as many Julie trends as I could! The thread. the paint splatter, the black edge… all Julie!

TheGiveaway

Thanks to Ellen from Ellen Hutson, we have a VERY generous giveaway today!! AΒ $50 gift certificateΒ to one lucky winner!!!

Store Credit 50

Thats huge folks! You could go on a mega mega shopping spree with it!! So how do you win it?Β Simple. Just leave a comment on this post answering the question Julie asked in the interview. Here is Julie’s question again for you…

What is your favorite trend in the papercraft world?

You have until 11:59 pm EST on March 23 to put in your answer in the comments!

Thats all for today folks! Julie and I look forward to reading your comments. And don’t forget to follow my blog and/or my Facebook page and/or my Youtube channel to get the newest Iron Craft episode every week! Thanks ❀

I’ve just come across your blog for the first time – love your interview and your style! πŸ™‚ I’m addicted to stencilling at the moment, and trying my hand at making some with acetate and dies! Right up there with stencilling – I love splattering with watercolours too!

What a fun interview! Just found you thru Julie and am looking forward to going back and watching last season. I love the stencil trend using the embossing paste has reminded me to dig out my really old metal embossing stencils that we used with the light desk! New techniques with old supplies is a win- win in my book! Will be retiring soon and am really looking forward to much more time in my craft room. Definitely will be putting your blog in my favorites for inspiration!

    Hi Chaitali,
First time here at your blog and first I’ve heard of Iron Crafting but I love it. You and Julie knocked that interview out of the park.

I really like stenciling and water color (are those “trends”?)

What a great Iron Craft episode! So many great trends. My favorite is sequins. They add a fun sparkle without using glitter. (I don’t like having that glitter trail around my crafts!)

I saw the information about the interview on Laura Bassen’s blog and just had to check it out. I’ve seen Julie in some of the online card classes and it’s fun to see her and get to know her better. I think my favorite trend it stenciling. I did it on walls years ago and now it has made an appearance in the paper crafting world – and it’s SO much easier.

Hello Bobby! Welcome to my blog. Hehe wall stenciling is fun too. I’m thinking of trying it out when repainting our bedroom wall. Its gotto be as easy as card stenciling right? πŸ˜€

Loved the interview between you two! I will be following this season for sure! My favorite trend at present is watercoloring with my Distress markers. Have to say I am also enjoying any stamp set that builds on one another, also. Two or Three Step Stamping is what I’ll call it!

Favorite trend? Not sure. On every card I feel there must be some textural dimension and visual dimension so I add all sorts of things to make those things happen!

Favorite thing to do…color! With Copics, watercolor, or colored pencils, it doesn’t matter. When I color I feel like a kid again. But I also feel somewhat “artsy” because I have learned how to blend and add depth and dimension.

Loved your interview with Julieβ€”she is always so happy and seems to love what she does! I think my favorite trend currently is inlaid die cuts. There seem to be more and more die cuts on the market, and I love the inlaid look that can be achieved by placing a patterned or different colored die cut into the base of a card. Very chic, I think.

What a great interview with Julie. She is addicting isn’t she? I love her laugh, big heart, and sillyness but she makes one beautiful card.

My favorite trend has to be embossing paste/stencils. I love that you can have three dimensional cards and in any color you chose by adding ink.

Wonderful video and can’t wait to see your next one. I’ve added you to my favorites and will subscribe to your youtube channel. Thank you.

I just found your website thanks to Laura Bassen directing me here.
Julie’s interview was so much fun and her cards are awesome.
My favorite trend right now is one layer cards. I have always piled things on my cards and had to pay extra postage to mail them, hoping they didn’t get ruined by the time they arrived.
I also like the wood veneer pieces which are adorable. I don’t have any yet but maybe someday.
Thank you for this opportunity to WIN!!…

But it IS difficult to choose just one trend with so many cool ideas floating around…

I was not aware of Iron Craft but will definitely put it on my priority list. The trend that I am most happy about is mixed media. Crafters are encouraged to do their own thing. I am telling my age when I say that when I was learning how to paint, there were rules and my drawings were not up on the board for parent-conference night. LOL Today, my light shines with all the inspiration of art journaling, stenciling, paints, and wonderful world of markers. Another trend is the awesome spirit of sharing that is demonstrated in every area of crafting. Tutorials, on-line classes, on-line groups, and many other instances, welcome all to “hitch their wagon” and come aboard!
