My Crafty Home #3 – Black and Gold

Hey everyone!

Its been a bit quiet around the blog for some days now. But you probably noticed the construction dust as I give my blog a makeover! Something BIG is coming here soon so watch out for the announcement next week 😉

I have a combined post today for My Crafty Home and as guest DT for i {heart} papers! In my (very) short stint as a DIYer I have come to the conclusion that I am a better shopper than a DIYer! That hasn’t stopped me from decorating my new home with beautiful things ofcourse! It has been a lot of fun to shop for gorgeous pieces to put in the house and it occurred to me that you all may enjoy seeing them too. Ofcourse since I associate papercrafting with anything, I thought they would be perfect inspirations for cards! So that is what you will see in this series going forward; possibly with a mix of DIY projects thrown in!

For today, with the gold trend going big, I have a beautiful gold candle to show you! We got this as a gift from friends just around the holidays and loved it a lot!

So armed with this as inspiration I was ready to go make a card but numerous attempts just didn’t cut it! You know how it is when there is crafter’s block?! BUT the recent CASE Study Challenge and Danielle Flanders totally got me out of the slump and pushed me to make this card…

A little bit of paper quilling, a few gold sequins, gorgeous patterns from the Paper Smooches Borderlicious set and some gold glitter helped complete the look! I faked the “ink splatters” with a regular black sharpie… shhh don’t tell anyone about that!

Supplies from IHP are linked below.

Thanks so much for stopping by as usual! Before you head out, I have a question for you today. I’m on a mission to gather gold. Not the metal although that would be nice; but gold craft products! So whats your favorite gold craft product? Leave me a comment with your answer and help further my gold shopping spree!

What a lovely card you made from that inspiration gift! What I love especially is that you combined the modern look with the images and sequins and added a lovely old timey feeling quilling piece together. Awesome! As for my favorite “Gold”, I have 3 different gold embossing powders from Ranger that are fabulous and all different from one another. Gold, Gilded Gold, African Gold. Love them all and use them all the time.

STUNNING – your candle and the card that it inspired! Looks like your crafter’s block lifted, because your card is truly gorgeous! The quilled flower, nestled in the gold/black, is lovely! So glad to see you back, and your ‘hint’ about new things to come certainly has captured my interest!
