Welcome to Diwali Bloghop 2013! I started this last year as a way to connect with other bloggers/crafters who celebrated Diwali and looks like its going to be an annual tradition now!
Diwali is a beautiful Hindu festival and the name stands for “festival of lights”. My memories of the festival have always been lots of delicious food and sweets, beautiful lights called diyas, Rangoli designs and celebrating with friends and family. This is still how I celebrate the festival every year and since last year I am also celebrating it with my blogging friends!
I also started the tradition of sending handmade Diwali cards to friends and family in US. I started with 30 last year and already it doubled to 60 this year!
This year I wanted my card to feature my own designs. I used the Henna Swirls set that I illustrated for TSG and a diya image that I drew as well.
Here is my card!
I used vibrant colors this time and stuck to red and gold which are very typical colors in Indian designs. Coloring 60 diyas with Copics wasn’t easy but worth it hearing all the comments and wishes from friends and family who received the cards!
Wanna see my pile of cards after I finished? Here is a part of them…
I also used a similar design to the Henna Swirls flower for a custom postage stamp I made for the envelopes. Here are all the envelopes neatly written by my dear husband and with the custom stamp stuck on them!
I enjoyed making these a lot! Will definitely continue doing this every year!
Would you like to win a Henna Swirls stamp set?
Here is what you need to do – visit all the participant blogs in today’s bloghop and comment on their creations as you go.
Two of the blogs will be randomly chosen as the ‘it’ blogs and a winner will be picked from each blog using a random number generator from the comments left on that blog post.
You will not know which blog has been chosen so the more you comment on the better your chances are of winning new stamps! You have until 9 PM EST, November 8 2013 to comment on the blogs!
