Nichole has a great tutorial on her blog for this week’s Make-It Monday! Its graduated backgrounds!
I loved her color combinations though I didn’t exactly follow her technique for making my backgrounds. I first put on a coat of water on my cardstock then used my distress ink pads (broken china, peeled paint, stormy sky, crushed olive) to blend in and get the background. Added water as needed along the way. I should add that this is using the distress ink pads not the re-inkers.
I have 2 cards for this. Here they are:
The first is using PTI Stitches and Swirls set. I double stamped to get the blurry effect so don’t rub your eyes! Colored inside the flowers using my glitter pens from Chomas Creations. The sentiment is from PTI Birthday Inside Out and the black pearls are from my TE Feb KI kit. The background cardstock is from my March Key Ingredients kit from TE.
My next card is a fun one because the graduated backgrounds made me think of my spirograph for some reason. Enjoyed playing with it to make the central circle using my Chomas Creations gel pens. Then scribbled some more with the pens to get a very interesting background. The brads are from my March KI kit and the sentiment is from PTI Birthday Inside Out.
I’m entering this for:
- Papertrey Ink Make-It Monday #58 Graduated Backgrounds
- Use it Tuesday green challenge — I used my hoarded stamps on the first card and my hoarded spirograph on the second
Hope you liked it! Thanks for stopping by!
