On to today’s card. I am SO behind in 365 cards challenges that my goal of doing all the challenges this year is fast fading away π¦ But I still remain hopeful and catching up as best as I can! The challenge for Day 14 was to make a card for your favorite sport.
I’m a 100% self-declared geek with no affinity to sports. Unless ofcourse you call coding a sport π So I had to think hard on this one. Then I got my stamps from Technique Tuesday this week and the idea clicked – Kite Flying!! Its very much a sport (read The Kite Runner) where I come from and its SO much fun!
Here is my sporty card:
Supplies:
Cardstock: PTI rustic cream for base, GP110 for stamped panel, PTI autumn abundance patterned paper
Accessories: Brown pearl, hemp cord
Inks: PTI True Black for image, Spiced marmalade and Wild honey distress inks
Stamps: Technique Tuesday Fly
This is based on this week’s Mojo Monday sketch:
I took some GP110 paper and brushed it all over with water first. Then dipped my brush in some Spiced Marmalade and Wild Honey distress inks and swabbed across to get this cool evening sun glow effect. Dried it with my hair dryer (yes hair dryer!) to improvise for lack of a heat embossing tool. Once dry, I stamped this lovely stamp from Technique Tuesday on it with PTI True Black ink.
The patterned paper strip is from PTI Autumn Abundance patterned papers. The hemp cord just begged to be added here and was a great way to complete the Mojo Monday sketch! I left out adding any sentiment on this one.
This card is for my husband, Vamsi, who loves kite flying so much!
This one goes for:
- 365 Cards Day 14 – So Sporty
- Mojo Monday Sketch 232
- City Crafter challenge – Things in my heartΒ — Kite flying is big in India where I grew up and there is a whole festival dedicated to it every year. I miss that here now so was fun to relive the memories with a card!
- Pile it on Up in the air challenge — Look, theres a kite up in the air!
- Simply Create Too “Its Spring???” challenge — ofcourse it is! Time for longer sunny days and more outdoor activities!
Hope you liked the card! Do leave a comment if you are visiting so I can drop by to see your work too!

Love the silhouettes, thanks for sharing the kite festival memory! We were kite flying with the kids last week…we were trying to “fly” airplanes off of it. The planes attached to the string and were supposed to be released by the timer, BUT, it didn’t work so well. We still had fun though!

Flying kite planes sounds fun! I’ve only flown the most common diamond shaped kites. Though I love seeing the other shapes in our local parks especially some that have a little light inside.
