Glitter Buttons

Today’s Make It Monday challenge on Nichole’s blog is adding glitter to buttons. Ashley showed some great techniques for adding glitter on buttons. I decided to go with the stickles method since that seemed safest to me. When you are as clumsy as me, doing everything possible to avoid glitter accidents is necessary.

Here is my card:

Supplies:
Cardstock: Papertrey Ink Rustic Cream
Inks: Papertrey Ink true black
Stamps: Amuse Studio cupcake set, Papertrey Ink Birthday Inside Out sentiment
Accessories: Papertrey Ink saddle stitch ribbons, buttons, glitter glue sticks, birthday stickers, quilling strips

I didn’t have stickles in the colors I wanted so I used glitter glue sticks instead. They are similar to stickles in that they have glitter mixed with glue but easier to apply by just squeezing the stick. I added glitter buttons as toppers on my cupcakes and also on top of the party hats on my card.

I have also admired the water color effect on stamped images that I have seen on so many cards. I finally managed to duplicate it here pretty successfully 🙂

I also made this card for Virginia’s View challenge at Lilypad Cards. Here are the inspiration photo and sketch:

From the photo, all I looked at was the yummy cake and the cherries in the glass. I also loved the white on blue background color combination here. That inspired using the saddle stitch ribbons on my card. I turned the sketch sideways and moved the sentiment to the top right corner.

This one goes for the following challenges:

Thanks for stopping by and hope you enjoyed my card!
