So here is another one!
The current challenge at Lily Pad Cards is to make a card using pieces of patterned paper. Ever since I read Beate’s herringbone tutorial at SCS, I loved the technique and just can’t get enough of it. So here I am with a herringbone card again, this time using up my favorite pink/red scraps!
Lily Pad Cards also has a Card Chain challenge where one of the options was to make a VDay card. Its cool to send your card to someone who could literally be anywhere in the world and receive one from someone possibly equally far away :O Since my card today will possibly travel a lot, I wanted to keep it as flat as possible so shipping would be easy and safe.
There was also Papertrey Ink’s Make it Monday challenge today. Nicole’s video makes it seem so easy to make the strip right? Well for someone like me who needs precise measurements, it was a disaster 😦 3 wasted strips later, I got the measurements right. For those interested, my strip was 10″ and I scored it lightly every 2″ then folded it at the 45-degree angles.
I loved the dimensional sentiment and really wanted to do this. But I didn’t have any good PTI stamps with separate words. I went with the “keep in touch” stamp from the Happy Trails set because I felt it represented what I wanted to convey to my yet-unknown friend when I sent the card out. I stamped it twice masking out “touch” for the first part and “keep in” for the second part.
Here is my card:
